Alice Min Soo Chun is a Co-Founder and CEO of Solight Design ™ and the inventor of the SolarPuff ™. Alice is aProfessor of Design and Material Culture at Parsons the New School for Design. She was formerly the Director of the Materials Resource Lab at the New School and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Architecture at Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture and at the University of Pennsylvania. Aftermany years of research in integrating solar circuit panels with thin film substrates, she developed the first prototype for the solar inflatable light in 2009. When the Haiti earthquake happened, she turned her studio at Columbia University into an innovation studio for the developing solutions to help Haiti, and then the application of the solar inflatable light became the SolarPuff ™. She has built award-winning community outreach projects; her work has been published in the New York Times, Architectural Record, Dwell, and the Journal of Architectural Education. Her book entitled GROUND RULES in Humanitarian Design, published with Wiley Press in 2015, is about design principles for the long-term sustainability.
Stacy Kelly is a Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Solight Design ™. Stacy has the dual role of being responsible for managing the manufacturing and shipment of our products while also developing strategic business relationships. Solight Design ™ is Stacy’s third entrepreneurial venture. She sold her first to American Health Magazine. In 2007, Stacy founded her second venture, Mobile Previews, a mash-up of mobile video streaming, SMS alerts, sharing and polling in one mobile application. In between start-ups Stacy worked as a publishers for some of the largest media companies in the world such as ABC, Disney, Reed Elsevier, Entrepreneur Media and Advanstar across a variety of markets and digital platforms, including: entertainment, toys and licensing It was as publisher of Entrepreneur’s Business Start-Up that she realized that her real passion is in starting and helping new businesses find their markets and build out their sales and business development strategies. Stacy received her MBA from San Francisco State University and her undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut.
Gary Wang – VP Sales and Marketing is a profit driven professional with expertise in marketing, sales, product and business management. He has a successful career of over 25 years in achieving revenue, profit and business growth in digital media, consumer packaged goods and electronics, gift cards and online marketing.
He started his career in telecommunications working for ASCOM, one of the largest Swiss multi-national telecommunications company, as the director of regulatory compliance and corporate administration for their US group. Ascom was later acquired by Peoples Telephone where he managed and grew PTC Services, a new division within the company for deregulated ATT long distance services, into the most profitable division in the group grossing over $25 million a year.
With his experience in the telecom business, he later went on to start RedKnot with several colleagues. The company was launched to take advantage of the booming internet transaction processing business for payment services and web access. RedKnot was soon acquired for its proprietary software program by Digital Commerce Inc., a company based in Seattle with an offshore banking license that would allow financial transaction payments through Visa and MasterCard’s gateways.
Gary went on to work as a consultant for the next eleven years as a consultant/director of new business development for several companies spearheading new revenue-generating initiatives globally for sale of custom and licensed branded products Led P&L efforts for entire spectrum of functions pertaining to setting up new consumer product launches for DGL (first year sales of $3 million for new company) and Zing Revolution, prepaid gift cards for Puretracks, House of Blues and Billboard Music, launched promotional programs for major brands that included Konami, Eidos and Capcom (gaming), ASICS (athletic shoes), Moet Hennessy (beverage), Marriot Hotels, Sony PlayStation and Disney, and online digital product sales for Puretracks and Playphone. He has successfully introduced products into major retailers that include Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, Office Depot, CircleK, The Pantry, FYE, Bed, Bath and Beyond, Pamida, Pep Boys and Staples and numerous other retailers.
He has worked with the largest gift card incentive reward companies including SkyMall, SVM and National Gift Card and managed and showed at countless industry trade shows for state and federal emergency management, retail sports shows, consumer electronic, gift card and convenience trade shows and established a database of clients and potential customers.
He is proficient at launching online marketing programs that include affiliate marketing, social media optimization, pay per click Google ad word placements and retargeting.
Gary graduated from California State Polytechnic- Pomona with honors with a B.S. in Finance.
Lara Lavi, EVP Business Affairs & Chief Counsel is a serial entrepreneur, business development specialist, corporate attorney, professional singer songwriter and staunch environmentalist. Ms. Lavi holds a BS and MS in wildlife biology and natural resource policy from the University of Michigan and a JD with a certificate in environmental law from the University of Oregon. Ms. Lavi has over 30 years practicing various areas of law, running companies, raising capital and advocating for the environment. From her time as a tribal attorney to her unique background as a singer songwriter for A&M records, Grammy winning Ms. Lavi brings color, passion, professionalism and decades of experience to Solight Design. Currently she functions as the company’s General Counsel but her role at Solight expands to marketing, supply chain analysis, business development and retail strategy.
Dr Alison Thompson OAM- is a full time global humanitarian volunteer. Her work started on the Sept 11th 2001 attacks in New York, where she volunteered as a first responder for nine months. She has run internally displaced persons camps in Sri Lanka, Haiti, Lesvos-Greece and all over the world and in 2012 was appointed as the first official Ambassador to the Haitian Ministry of Environment where she works in reforestation and cholera initiatives. Alison is fondly known as the “Angel of Galle” in Sri Lanka and the "Angel of Light" in Nepal and Lesbos-Greece. In 2015 she was honored at Loyola Chicago University with an Honorary ‘Doctorate of Letters’, in the ‘Humanities’, where she also gave the commencement speech.
Alison is an MCI Disaster Specialist, Mathematician, Author, Anthropologist, Filmmaker, and Rescue Paramedic. In Haiti she co-founded We Advance, an organization dedicated to combating gender-based violence for women and children throughout the dangerous slums of Cite Soleil. In 2004 Thompson volunteered in the Asian Tsunami disaster in Sri Lanka and remained there for two years developing and operating a field hospital, rebuilding a village and a local school. There she Co-founded the first Tsunami Early-Warning Disaster Center along with a Children’s Learning Center and Tsunami Museum.
Her award-winning documentary The Third Wave, chronicles her volunteer experience in Sri Lanka after the 2004 tsunami and was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in a Presidential Jury Screening presented by Sean Penn and Bono. She followed up with a book, The Third Wave: A Volunteer Story.
In 2010, Thompson flew to Haiti along with actor Sean Penn and ten doctors to help after the earthquake. Together, they managed a 70,000-person IDP camp and field hospital alongside General Simeon Trombitas and the 82nd Airborne who honored her with the US Commanders 'Medal of Excellence' Award. In 2010 she was awarded the Order of Australia, the highest civilian medal given by the Australian Government and Queen Elizabeth II, for her volunteerism and her contributions to mankind.
— After Hurricane Sandy in New York, Thompson created and managed The Third Wave Command Center in the Rockaways NY, supporting thousands of affected civilians with aid and resilience campaigns and then went onto work in the Philippines with Typhoon Haiyan followed by the Nepal earthquake disaster of 2015 where she delivered thousands of solar lights to remote destroyed mountain areas.
Thompson is currently leading Rescue Missions and Refugee camps on the island of Lesbos,Greece where an influx of 10,000 wounded Syrian, Iraq and Afghan refugees arrive daily. With simplicity and humility, Thompson inspires everyone to take action just as she has: as an everyday, average individual. She tailors her message on how ‘anyone can volunteer’, from a global scope to our own backyards and that “everyone is needed”
As she continues to change the world – she believes “It is easy to be in the wrong place at the wrong time but it's leadership to be in the wrong time at the right time.”

Maïté van der Vekene has been working for the Permanent Mission of Luxembourg to the United Nations in New York, primarily on the intergovernmental process that led to the adoption by 193 countries of the 2030 Development Agenda titled « Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development ». Passionate by development cooperation and humanitarian aid, she strongly believes in the creation of partnerships to eradicate extreme poverty. She studied Law and holds a Master’s Degree in International and European Law as well as a LL.M. in Human Rights. Her Master’s Thesis for which she undertook field study in Greenland is entitled « Global Warming in a World of Ice and Snow: Violations of Inuit’s Human Rights ». She speaks five languages.
